Draw length calculator
Find your draw length for bow sizing and arrow length. Method 1 is an estimate — confirm with a coach or shop.
Calculator
Valid range about 40–90 in (102 cm–229 cm).
Estimate only — proportions vary. Confirm with a coach or bow shop.
Draw length: 28.0 in
Suggested arrow length (1–2 in longer): 29.0 in – 30.0 in
How it works
Draw length is how far you pull the string at your anchor. It drives bow size and how long your arrows should be.
Method 1 divides your wingspan by 2.5. Method 2 uses a measured nock-to-grip-pivot distance plus 1.75 in (AMO/ATA convention).
Formula
Method 1 (estimate): draw length = wingspan ÷ 2.5 Method 2 (AMO): draw length = nock-to-pivot + 1.75 in Arrow length: draw length + 1 to 2 in
Worked example
Wingspan 70 in → draw length 28.0 in → try arrows about 29–30 in long (always confirm clearance at full draw).
FAQ
Which method should I use? Use AMO if you have a shop measurement; otherwise start with wingspan and verify before buying expensive limbs.
Is arrow length the same as draw length? No — arrows are usually slightly longer than draw length for safety and tuning.
