How to use this sheet
A plotting sheet is not a scorecard. You do not write 9-8-7 in a row; you put a dot where the arrow landed so you can see a high-left cluster, a slow drift right, or a first-arrow flyer. Coaches use these on the line. Archers use them in a notebook after a blank session. This generator draws a coloured target face in each end cell, with write-in boxes for each arrow and an optional end-total box.
Face size is the first choice. 122 cm is the outdoor face for WA 720 long distances, WA 1440 90 and 70 metres, and a lot of field practice. 80 cm is the short-distance 1440 face and the usual compound 50 m ranking face. 60 cm is what Portsmouth and many club indoor nights hang. 40 cm is WA 18 m indoor, often as a triple, and some Portsmouth setups. The caption under the header spells that out so you do not plot a 70-metre group on a 40 cm diagram by habit.
Ends run from 1 to 9. One end gives you a large face for a single group. Six ends fill a 3×2 grid, which matches a 720 half or a long indoor night. Nine ends use a 3×3 grid. The layout is automatic; you do not pick rows and columns. Arrows per end default to 6 and can drop to 3 for indoor. Hide the end-total box if you only care about the picture. Hide header fields if you are printing a stack of blanks for a course.
Print A4 or Letter. The faces are vector, so they stay circular on a decent printer. Use a fine pen. Mark X’s as X if you want, or use dots in ring colours. After the session, look for lean (a group centred left or right of gold), up-down drift across ends, and the first arrow of each end sitting apart from the rest. That is the conversation a plotting sheet is for. If you would rather log arrows digitally, the footer QR still points at ScoreMyArrow.
FAQ
- Which target face should I plot on?
- 122 cm for most outdoor 70/90 m and field; 80 cm for 1440 short distances and compound 50 m; 60 cm for Portsmouth and club indoor; 40 cm for 18 m indoor. Match the face you are shooting.
- How many ends can I put on one sheet?
- One to nine. The generator picks a grid (for example 3×2 for six ends, 3×3 for nine) so the faces stay large enough to mark.
- Is this a free printable plotting sheet?
- Yes. Choose your face and ends, download the PDF, and print it. No account is required.
- Can I hide the score boxes under each face?
- You can hide the end-total box. Arrow boxes stay so you can still jot a value next to a plotted point if you want both a picture and a number.
- Do I need special paper?
- Ordinary A4 or Letter is enough. A slightly heavier stock holds up better in a bow bag, but the PDF does not require it.
